Darth Vader is a central figure in the Star Wars saga, first appearing in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), though his backstory is significantly expanded upon in the prequel trilogy.

Born Anakin Skywalker, he was a powerful Jedi Knight prophesied to bring balance to the Force. His story in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith depicts his fall to the dark side. Tricked by Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine), Anakin succumbs to fear and anger, embracing the Sith identity of Darth Vader.

As Darth Vader, he becomes a fearsome enforcer of the Galactic Empire, clad in black armor with a distinctive helmet and respirator system necessary for his survival after a devastating duel. He serves as a symbol of the Empire's power and is instrumental in hunting down the remaining Jedi.
